Low-cost app development with standardized modules
OmoteNavi®OEM offers several standard geo app modules. Each one comes packed with functions and extensions to meet your specific requirements.
You can customize them even further by tacking on optional add-ons, and also have the option of introducing a fully integrated system of both the apps and underlying servers.
A client-centric approach
We emphasize focusing on the client's true needs, especially in large-scale system developments.
Infinite applications for O2O
Geo apps drive a variety of O2O ('Online to Offline') applications including customer acquisition, guides, and event execution.
Superimposing online positioning data onto offline information.
This app provides all the local detail and guidance you need, just as if there were a live tourguide walking beside you. It guides you to your destination, makes route suggestions, lets you do guide keyword searches, and more.
Explanation of local points of interest
Tapping the floating airtag icons on the map or AR camera screen gives you more detail on the item selected, highlighting sightseeing and other points of interest. You can even add audio guidance to supplement the images and text.
Trip simulation / Deciding what to see before you even get there
OmoteNavi lets you do a pre-trip simulation, researching routes and spots to check out, right from the comfort of your own home or office.
The local area guides are packed with sightseeing and other useful information. You can also do keyword searches by facility name, category, or tag word.
The app also provides a variety of preset route recommendations. Just select your desired profile and allotted time, and the app selects the best route for you. It then displays an area map, showing the route's starting and finishing points, as well as places to stop and see along the way.
Detailed local area guides / Recommended walking routes
Once you are on your actual trip, the first thing to do is choose between 'Recommended Routes' and 'Wander Freely'. If you select Recommended Routes, simply enter your preferences and the amount of time you have, and the app will suggest several possible routes to explore.
「Guide via the map screen」
Routes are shown on the map screen with highlighted lines and arrows, and a dynamic dot showing your current location.
Tap the floating icons at different points along the route to view more detailed information on specific points of interest.
「Guide via the AR camera screen」
If you're using the AR camera screen, route direction is indicated with a red arrow, and when you point your smartphone at a point of interest, a floating airtag is displayed. Tap on the tag to display detailed information on that spot.
「Guide with 'autoplay' audio」
When you come within 15m of a point of interest, the audio guidance begins automatically.
Standard Module2 : Store Coupon App
Packed full of local deals specific to the customer's current location, this app links potential customers to local stores, promoting both customer acquisition and retention.
Users can view all the current coupons and deals in their immediate area, right on the map screen. Clicking on a coupon displays shop detail and then guides them to that store.
Store staff can monitor the weather and store status, and post coupons accordingly, right from their smartphones. The coupons they post are reflected immediately on maps for users to see.
Show users all the best deals near their current location
The app pinpoints the user's exact location and displays all the current local deals for that area.
Coupons are color-coded into categories such as restaurants, fashion, etc. for easy viewing. They can also be viewed separately 'by store'.
Introducing store detail／Publishing coupons
Once users have viewed the details of the deal, they can click on the coupon and be guided right to the store.
When there are no coupons active, users see an introduction to the store and its products/services.
Stores can monitor store status and post coupons accordingly
Store staff can post as many coupons per day as they want, according to store status and weather, right from their smartphone or other device.
Stores can also view detailed statistics such as number of coupons issued, number of subsequent store visits, etc.
Standard Module3 : Event Promotion App
An app to help promote festivals and events of all sizes.
Venue and schedule information
This app gives users access to venue information, schedules, artist profiles and more. Users can also do a keyword search for the artist they want to see.
Selecting one of our recommended routes not only gives users venue information, but also encourages them to check out other spots in the local community.
Character and amusement functions
Make the app even more fun by adding characters that appear on the screen and act as the user's personal tourguides. The app also has treasure hunt games, stamp rallies, video clips and more.
Standard Module4 : Emergency Support App
During an emergency, this app provides essential support to ensure the user's safety.
Earthquake analysis based on the user's current location
The app compares earthquake alert information sent out from the meteorological bureau with the user's current location, and displays key information such as magnitude and expected time of impact.
Keeps working even with no cellular reception
Cell reception is often lost after a big earthquake, but this app will keep working as long as the device has battery power.
Option1 : Historical and Other Maps
Toggle between current and historical maps / Using AR technology to discover hidden history
Toggle between actual current-day view and historical map view at the click of a button. Users can view what the exact spot they are standing at may have looked like to past generations – castles, canals and more! Fascinating for both history buffs and anyone who enjoys seeing a different view of the world around them.
Users can also toggle to illustrated maps and aerial photos of the area.
When using the AR camera, the app can also display and explain main points of interest in the 'jokamachi', the towns surrounding historical castle locations, bringing history and culture to life.
Receiving emergency earthquake alerts／ Guiding the user to the nearest evacuation area
Emergency earthquake report is displayed first
As soon as an earthquake alert is issued by the meteorological bureau, a window pops up and displays the user's current location, estimated time of impact and estimated magnitude.
Then nearby evacuation areas are displayed
After a set amount of time, the screen changes to map display, showing the user's current location and other key emergency information including the location of nearby evacuation sites, AEDs, and hospitals. The app keeps working even after cell reception is lost.
And the user is guided to the nearest evacuation area
The app then displays the location of the nearest evacuation site, and guides the user there using arrows to indicate the best route. And since it uses GPS data, it will still be able to guide the user to safety even without cell service.
Option2 : Multi-language
Various languages supported for inbound tourism promotion
Users can choose between Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean for all explanations and audio guidance.
Foreign-language speakers will enjoy the same level of detail as Japanese users do.
Option3 : SNS
Sharing your favorite trip moments via Facebook/Twitter
The app is integrated with other social media apps, so it's easy to share photos and impressions of your trip in the same moment you are experiencing them.
Option4 : Amusement
Animated character guides
Users can have their favorite animated characters guide them on their trip.
The app lets users toggle between different character skins, use character audio guides, download wallpapers, and even take pictures together with the characters.
Users can have just one or several characters on the screen at once.
3D video clips
Using image recognition technology and the built-in gyrocompass function, the app can play overlaid video clips at set spots along the user's route.
Treasure hunts and stamp rallies
Users can enjoy treasure hunts and stamp rally games as they explore the different areas. When they enter specified stores and points of interest, they build up points and can later download wallpapers and other fun items.
When they find floating airtags on the AR camera screen, users can download special images and sound bytes.
Guidance in the voice of your favorite voice actor
Major routes are guided in the voice of famous voice actors. In addition to an overall introduction to the area and route, voice actors give explanations of the main points along each route. More minor routes are led by professional TV/radio announcers.
Audio guidance is great for strolling around town because you don't have to look at the screen all the time.
Universal Support App (for mobility-challenged users)
This option lets people in wheelchairs and those with baby strollers enjoy barrier-free access to the areas they are exploring.
The app leverages the "Barrier-free Map for Mobility-challenged Persons" to provide users with barrier-free route and venue recommendations.
Image recognition AR / 3D video clips
The app uses image recognition technology, so when the user points their camera at a sign or captures an image, the photo starts moving and playing CGs and 3D video clips.
Similarly, video clips start playing automatically when the camera is pointed at specific sightseeing points of interest.
After the video finishes playing, coupons can be displayed, or the app can guide the user to the related point of interest, thus adding an intuitive, fun element to the guidance service.
【Works well outdoors too】
Image quality often suffers due to sun overexposure when using smartphone cameras outdoors. The OmoteNavi app overcomes this by using dual sensors when shooting outside.
Overcome the limitations of current geo apps on the market
Geo apps use your location to provide detailed area information, but the feed source of that information is limited, and the information flows only one way – from the server to you.
We are revolutionizing that model by adding a call center 'concierge service' that the user can interact with. This model still uses the customer's location information to provide pertinent information, but adds an interactive element that will satisfy even the most seasoned traveler.
Sample flow of the new service
Three levels of information service
Traditional push notification services provide a one-way stream of preset data content. In comparison, our local 'concierge service' adopts a more interactive model that responds to the real-time needs of the user.
It builds on a base system that tracks the user's current location and needs in that moment, and adds a dynamic element to the information provided – the ability to chat with a live operator.
